Blewah is very popular in Indonesia, especially during Ramadan (fasting month for Moslem). You'll find blewah sold everywhere in Jakarta. In my family, we always have ice blewah as iftar.
Blewah has the same species with Melon, but they are in different cultivar group. If you haven't seen nor tasted this fruit, it has similar aroma and taste as Cantaloupe.
As I mentioned before, my family came last Tuesday from Indonesia. My sister brought me this fruit. She remembered that has been 2 years I haven't eaten ice blewah. She also wanted to make her brother in law to taste it. Yup, my sister is so lovely. She even brought the shredded tool with her.
Then as you knew it, today we had ice blewah as our dessert. It's like a dream *LOL*
You know what, I almost decided not to take picture of this fruit and the beverage. It's because I'm afraid that my mom and sister will be angry with me, knowing that I've spent most of my time capturing the food instead of studying.
Thanks God, they didn't... even my sister gave me suggestion on styling the fruit and ice. Ahhh... I'm so relieve :D
Mom said: "Why you took a lot of picture?"
I wish she knew that sometimes it takes me hundred before I give up *LOL*
4 tbsp granulated sugar

1. Cut blewah, seeded and shredded. Do not throw the seed.
2. Shift the seed to take the water out.
3. Mix the water from the seed with shredded blewah. Add sugar and water. Mix well. Refrigerate.
